The Magic of Bounce Lighting

Have you heard of bounce lighting?  Bounce lighting is a super easy, no-budget way of making your product photos look amaaaazing.

  • Do your product photos have harsh shadows on one side?
  • Are you taking photos next to a sunlit window?
  • Is your lighting uneven?
  • Does the shadow under your product blend into your product itself?

What bounce lighting can do for your product photos is practically magic.

My bounce card is made from a cardboard box flap and a sheet of tinfoil held on with a few strips of duct tape.  Budget: $0.

Bounce lighting is one of those techniques that you don’t hear about when you’re first getting started with photographing handmade crafts or food.  But once you know about it, it makes all the difference in the world!  Here’s one more example of bounce lighting in action:
